"Thank you for 3 days of priceless training."
- Mark, Chaplain, Los Angeles

Medical Education

OUR HOUSE trains physicians at hospitals, hospices, and cancer centers on how to talk with patients who are dying and families who are grieving. Since 1998, our medical education program has been part of the curriculum for students at USC's Keck and UCLA's David Geffen Schools of Medicine.

Education Topics include:

- Universality of death and grief

- Theoretical and ethical consideration

- Hands-on practice breaking bad news

- Strategies for coping with the professionals' own feelings and identifying symptoms of compassion fatigue

"When thinking about being a physician, I usually think about how I'll be curing patients. I rarely think of the possibility of my patients dying. This session really opened my eyes to the inevitable – especially the role play. Acting out being the doctor or patient made me more compassionate."
Jennifer
