Her Daughter
Place of birth: New York
Frieda was born in New York moved to the beaches of Rockaway which she adored. I still remember her slathering on the iodine and baby oil and sitting with a reflector to capture the sun. She was ahead of her time. She worked hard her whole life. Despite never having gone to college, she became a master bookkeeper for hospitals and a mentor to many. She adored her grandchildren and suffered a stroke at the very young age of 61. She struggled with aphasia and paralysis for another 18 years and yet found enjoyment where she was able – hoarding nickels from bingo winnings, adoring animals and an incredible obsession with garbanzo beans or chi-chi’s, as she called them. We miss her every day.
