Opportunities always exist to serve the mission of OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center. Volunteer opportunities include administrative and programmatic support activities in our main office and planning and supporting our community and fundraising events. These volunteer roles do not require the special training that our grief support group leaders or camp volunteers complete.
Whether it is assisting with one of our annual events or regularly supporting the administrators in one of our three centers, please consider joining the team of over 300 volunteers who help provide, sustain and grow grief support services.
Run for Hope: The Run For Hope is an annual 5K walk/run and festival for both group members and the community. Volunteers are welcome the day of the event to help with set up and break down, cheering along the route, passing out medals, and to assist at various booths during the festival. Help is also needed the week leading up to the event to prepare signs and organize participants’ personalized shirts.
Camp Erin-LA : Two weekends each summer OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center hosts Camp Erin-LA and OC! The weekend long camp provides children an opportunity to learn grief coping skills, enjoy traditional summer camp activities, and connect with other children who are also grieving the death of someone close. Volunteers serve as camp counselors.
Night for Hope: Thrown by the Associate Board of OUR HOUSE, a group of young professionals committed to raising awareness and funds for the agency, this night is a social mixer for supporters of all ages. The event offers one of our most robust volunteer opportunities outside of the role of group leader, allowing volunteers to help with the planning, set-up and execution of the evening, ensuring an excellent guest experience.
Can I receive community service hours?
– Yes. We are happy to work with you in fulfilling your community service hours.
Can I volunteer with a group?
– Yes. Group volunteers are welcome for all events and our annual Run For Hope is the perfect opportunity for group involvement. We can always use festival liaisons and route cheerleaders, but we also invite you to be creative with your volunteer time. We often have musical groups, dance teams, or students come up with a project they would like to add to an event. We welcome all ideas!
Are there any requirements to be a volunteer for events?
– There are no requirements of experience or expertise. We just ask that you be punctual and responsible. We welcome event volunteers of all ages, but Camp Erin-LA and OC volunteers must be at least 21 years old.
