Grief is complex and unique to every person. Shock, numbness, anger, sadness, loneliness, relief—you might experience some or all of these feelings at any moment during your grief journey.
At OUR HOUSE, we help grievers navigate the journey from raw grief to reflection, acceptance, and hope. Right now, thousands of grievers across Los Angeles need our support. Will you help them?

In 2021, OUR HOUSE received record-high requests for grief support, more than three times previous years. Too many people in L.A. are dying—from COVID-19, overdose, homicide, cancer, and heart disease—and their loved ones need your help.
Processing grief is even more difficult in a pandemic. At OUR HOUSE, we understand the stressors impacting health, employment, child-care responsibilities, and food insecurity. It’s why we offer empathy, support, and connection to meet the needs of the community we serve.

“I am super grateful [for OUR HOUSE]. My heart has been able to expand in ways through grief that I didn’t imagine, and this group has provided a community for me that I never knew needed to exist.”

Experiencing the death of a parent, sibling, friend, or other loved one can be the most stressful event in a child’s lifetime.
When that child’s grief is unsupported, it can undermine their sense of bonding and increase lifetime risk for chronic health problems, substance misuse, mental health issues, and job and family instability. It is critical that grieving children and teens have a safe space to express their grief, process difficult emotions, and find hope together.
OUR HOUSE’s grief support programs reach the most vulnerable neighborhoods in Los Angeles, where deaths are often caused by violence, overdose, Covid-19, and inequitable access to healthcare.

“OUR HOUSE saved my family. It was very important to me that grief would not be the defining factor in who my children would become and the negative emotions surrounding grief would not be what colored their outlook on life. OUR HOUSE really helped them negotiate that otherness.”

In Los Angeles County, 39% of people identify as Hispanic/Latinx and Spanish is commonly spoken. Although cultural differences can impact how people grieve, there are very few grief support resources available to Spanish-speaking grievers.
The OUR HOUSE Spanish Language Satellite Program provides culturally sensitive grief support to people in this community. We reach people wherever they are, offering connection and a safe space where they can honor their grief. All of our resources are available in English and Spanish.
